FREE DELIVERY comprises works by artists who explore modes of identity as well as motives for creating. Generated from a singular communal space, these works become products of individual explorations of identity regarding performativity, abjection, humor, gender, race, intimacy, memory and kitsch. The motive for the act of making in itself is questioned by the comparison of these works. How do we define “sincerity” in light of the subjectivity of individual art-making? How autonomous can these works claim to be when conceived of and completed in a shared studio? Can the intuitive, economic, sociological and spiritual lenses represented here co-exist?
